Our History
Gerardus Mercator was a 16th century Flemish Cartographer. He created a unique and innovative mathematical projection that revolutionised navigation and is still fundamental to the maps we use today.
But, more importantly, he was also a polymath inspired by nature - a mathematician, an astronomer, a calligrapher.
It was this fascination with art, precision and creativity that we wanted to lie at the very heart of Mercator.
